What's included in Polishing & Spot Correction

This is a refinement, clarity, and spot-correction service. We improve gloss, clean up light haze and swirls, and focus attention on specific dull or marked areas when full restoration is not required.

Prep & inspection

  • Thorough exterior wash and rinse
  • Surface decontamination as needed
  • Visual inspection of gelcoat and problem areas
  • Tape-off of sensitive trim and decals as needed
  • Plan for polishing steps based on condition

Machine polishing

  • Single or multi-step polish based on condition
  • Spot correction for selected dull, hazy, or marked areas
  • Focus on hull and topside smooth gelcoat
  • Improved depth, clarity, and color richness
  • Reduces light hazing and minor swirl marks
  • Ready for Ceramic Coating Protection or wax

Swirl & haze cleanup

Helps reduce light washing marks, hazy reflection, and tired gloss on gelcoat that still has enough life to polish.

Spot correction

Targets specific problem areas instead of selling a full correction package when the whole boat does not need it.

Final gloss refinement

Adds a cleaner final finish after compounding, especially on darker hulls or higher-end boats where reflection matters.

When polish is enough vs. when you need restoration

Polishing is best when the gelcoat still has some gloss and color, but looks dull, hazy, or tired up close.

If your gelcoat is chalky, very flat, or badly faded, you'll likely need Oxidation Removal / Gelcoat Restoration first, then polish and protect.

As a restoration add-on, final polishing/gloss refinement starts at +$15/ft after the base correction scope is set.

Polishing & spot correction FAQ

Quick answers to common questions boat owners ask before booking polishing, swirl cleanup, or focused correction.

What’s the difference between polishing and oxidation removal?

Polishing refines and boosts gloss on gelcoat that still has some life. Oxidation removal is heavier correction for chalky, faded gelcoat that won’t shine with a polish alone.

How long does polishing and spot correction take?

Time depends on size, layout, and condition. Many boats take several hours, while larger vessels can take a full day or more. We’ll give a realistic timeline after photos or an inspection.

Should I wax or ceramic coat after polishing?

Yes—protection is key. Wax adds short-term protection and gloss. Ceramic coating is longer-lasting and makes washing easier, especially in Florida sun and salt.

Do you work dockside at marinas and storage facilities?

Yes. We’re fully mobile and can perform polishing dockside where access and conditions allow. If power/water constraints exist, we’ll coordinate the best setup.
